8 Habits: Persistence

January 5, 2012 Associates Program

“If the client kills your ad, do him a better one. If he kills that better one, do him and evenĀ better one. If he kills that even better one, do him your damnĀ best one.”

While calling someone 16 times within as many minutes may not be the greatest idea in an office setting, it is at least tangentially representative of the great things being persistent can do. If you are aloof, not proactive, etc., you will likely do a great disservice to both yourself and your work.

Everyone in the office is incredibly busy, but if the onus falls on you to get something done by a tight deadline, persistence is going to be your best friend. There is a fine line between polite, productive prodding and obnoxious badgering. Calling someone 16 times probably falls into the latter category. The art of persistence is being steadfast, focused and driven, but always with tact when you have to rely on others to do something in order to get a task completed.
